This summer I spent an hour talking with Dale Simonson for his podcast, Carpe Diem: Live Your Dream, and the episode is now online.

We talked about Under Antarctica. The eighty days Matthieu Tordeur and I spent crossing the continent on kite-skis, the four thousand kilometres, the two ground-penetrating radars we dragged behind us to map ice that almost nobody ever sees, and the strange morning at the Soviet Pole of Inaccessibility, 3,724 metres up, where a bust of Lenin still looks out over the ice.

Dale asked the kind of questions that interviews often skip. Why a glaciologist ends up on a kite in the first place. What you actually do with eight, ten, sometimes twelve hours a day of wind and white. How the data we collected out there is being used now that we are home.
