"From the vast landscapes of Antarctica to the global stage of climate awareness, a pioneering scientific adventure is unfolding.
In this new episode of Tête-à-tête, glaciologist Dr Heïdi Sevestre and explorer Matthieu Tordeur share insights from the Under Antarctica expedition, a pioneering kite-ski expedition supporting polar science. Their journey helps us better understand the fragile cryosphere and the risks linked to accelerating glacier loss.
As we mark the World Glaciers Day their message resonates with urgency and hope. Protecting glaciers means protecting our climate, freshwater resources and our shared future.
Led in partnership with UNESCO the expedition will soon be the focus of a documentary produced in partnership with GEDEON MEDIA GROUP."
Incredibly proud to share this feature from UNESCO Poke to my amazing teammate Matthieu Tordeur and huge thanks to Matthieu Guevel and Marie Christine Pinault Desmoulins whose enthusiasm carried us across Antarctica! Kudos to the comms team for producing such a beautiful video. Thank you all.
This partnership between our expedition and UNESCO was born from the UNESCO Decade of Action for Cryospheric Sciences, and every day on the ice reminded us of just how deeply our values align: science, education, and culture as pillars for understanding and protecting our planet.
